UAE’s construction sites have been plagued with numerous accidents of late, with the latest reported case emerging from Sharjah.

A fire hit a construction site in Sharjah’s Al Khan area earlier this week. While no injuries or casualties were reported, three portacabins, which housed workers of a construction company, were destroyed by the flames.

Muttar Saeed, deputy officer at Sharjah Civil Defence Department, said the fire broke out in a construction site located in a ‘vital residential area’, as per a report by Gulf News. He further stated the blaze was contained in ‘a short time’.

Office furniture, documents, building materials and the personal belongings of the workers were gutted in the accident, Saeed added.

Various construction-related accidents reported in the UAE have recently been from Sharjah. A fire in the emirate’s Industrial Area 12 claimed 19 warehouses, shops and factories last week.

Dubai, Ajman and the civil defence headquarters were required to aid Sharjah’s fire-fighting body in extinguishing the flames.
