Construction of Ajman Marina project, designed across 1,530 metres and worth $27.2mn (AED100mn) was recently completed.

Yahya Ibrahim Al Reyaysa, director-general of the Department of Municipality and Planning in Ajman said the marina is currently undergoing work on services and facilities, such as walking, jogging, cycling and skating tracks, besides parking lots, restaurants and recreational areas.

Speaking to Al Ittihad, Al Reyaysa added the Al Nuaimiyah Bridge and Mushairif Bridge would open next week to ‘meet the needs of the population’, reported local daily The National.

The Ajman government intends to ‘provide a sustainable environment and modern infrastructure’, Al Reyaysa said. The yearly budget includes plans to pave roads, especially in Al Nuaimiyah, he informed, further adding the department would work on developing streets around tourist facilities, such as the new hotels by Ajman’s Corniche and in Al Zawra area.

Future plans for Ajman involve the development of a heritage area, and projects to ‘revamp the old city’, added the report.

Tourism and hospitality sectors have witnessed phenomenally spiked interest since the announcement regarding Dubai’s hosting rights for the Expo 2020 was made late last year.
