A Middle East Facilities Management Association (MEFMA) focus group has reported steady progress on production of its environmental guidance reports for FM practitioners.

It was announced at a focus group meeting, held in Dubai on May 31, that the group will now collect all the information from the surveys and access the data they have so far after which they will be able to document their research.

“We hope there will be a buy in from people, particularly members of MEFMA and that they’ll take on board what we’ve collated, start to make use of the information and tell more people,” said Andrew Prince, managing director RWN Trading LLC and chairman MEFMA sustainability focus group.

“The more people we get using our website from MEFMA the more credibility and stability it will give the FM market,” he added.

The main report will be on providing guidance for the FM practitioner in the Middle East including where to go for information on sustainability.

The other record will detail findings from feedback surveys. One of the aims of the initiative was to determine what the general response would be and whether practitioners find the gathered data useful.

“The meeting showed there are a lot of people who want simple guidance they don’t want to have to look at 100 sites,” said focus group member David Carey.

“Busy people just want to go to one site for the information they need.”

The group was given a remit to create two environmental guidance reports in 17. The research will be published online.
