Trump keeps focus on Akoya by Damac
Real estate magnate flies into Dubai to check on construction progress of 42 million square foot golfing community

Donald Trump, the American billionaire real estate investor and his daughter, Ivanka Trump, arrived in Dubai to check on progress at the 42 million square foot golf community, Akoya by Damac.
The New York-based Trump Organisation is collaborating with Damac Properties on the Trump International Golf Course – Dubai and 104 exclusive Trump Estates villas and mansions in the master development.
Speaking at a press conference hosted at the project, Trump declared his ambition of making the project ‘the greatest golf community in Asia’.
“It is great to be working with DAMAC Properties, a highly professional and established company. Our ethos regarding quality is in synch. It was clearly the right match. We are pleased to be here in Dubai and see for ourselves the impressive progress that is being made,” he added.
The real estate magnate added that while he was on the lookout for further real estate opportunities in Dubai, his focus remained on the Akoya by Damac project, at least until its completion.
“I might (be interested in real estate projects in Dubai) but the project that we love is this one. We have tremendous admiration and respect for Hussain Sajwani (executive chairman and CEO of Damac) and you know, that’s where we are.
“We might, it’s possible. But I’d still like to focus on this one because it’s so good and because it’s such a big and beautiful (project),” he told Big Project ME during the event.
He emphasised that it was his personal business philosophy to focus on one project at a time so as to ensure its successful completion.
“One of the things I like, especially when I venture far from New York, is to do something that’s obviously great and glamorous and big and beautiful. But it’s got to be big, because it’s got to be worth it. This is a tremendous development.
“It’s always possible (to do projects). People want to do jobs with us. There are always calls. People called us when they heard I was here, but I’m really interested in this one.”
“I don’t like to do too many things at one time. For me, it’s quality over quantity. That’s very important. The word quality is a very important word and that’s what this development is,” he asserted.
