The World Bank, in collaboration with the UITP MENA Centre for Transport Excellence will organise a seven-day-long workshop, commencing on Saturday, 7 June in Dubai’s Meydan Hotel.

The UITP MENA Centre was formed in 2011 by the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai (RTA) and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), with the aim of furthering sustainable networks in the MENA region.

Speakers from the RTA, World Bank and Harvard University are expected to participate in the workshop. The topics of focus include leadership capabilities in urban transportation planning, creating awareness of integrated mobility planning and so on.

This workshop is an addition to RTA’s efforts being undertaken to engage with Dubai’s construction and infrastructure sectors. Earlier this month, it was announced the RTA will co-host a project management forum, called the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) with the Project Management Institute’s UAE Chapter in the emirate. The forum, due to be held in September 2014, is expected to discuss Dubai’s, the UAE’s and the region’s capacities for the efficient management of projects across various sectors.
