Construction work in Qatar’s retail sector appears to be on track with project management contracts worth a total value of $12.6 million recently awarded for the Boulevard Mall and Mall of Qatar awarded to Hill International.

The Boulevard Mall’s total built-up area will be 182,000 square meters and is due for completion by April 2017. The development’s project management contract value is worth $3 million, and it will include a hypermarket, cinema and family entertainment centre.

Mall of Qatar will span across an area of 165,000 square meters, and include a hypermarket, department stores, restaurants and a three-storey central amphitheatre, called the Oasis. The contract value for Mall of Qatar is $9.6 million.

“The Boulevard Mall will be an exceptional shopping experience for residents and tourists,” said Mohammed Al Rais, senior vice president and managing director (Middle East) for Hill’s Project Management Group. “We are confident that our team will deliver on all of our client’s project objectives.

“Mall of Qatar will be a retail attraction like no other in Doha,” Al Rais added. “We are very excited to be involved with the construction of such an impressive project.”

Doha’s Mall of Qatar is set to open in the last quarter of 2015.
