Nakheel awarded consultancy contracts to two engineering firms – Green Energy and Energoprojekts – for the design review and infrastructure site supervision operations to be undertaken as part of its Deira Islands project.

Eight 132/11KV substations will be constructed to power the waterfront development, which spans 15.3sq.km, and comprises of four islands. The total value of the awarded contracts has not been revealed.

Earlier this week, Nakheel announced it will construct a 620,000sq.m-large entertainment hub at Deira Islands. RSP Architects, Planners and Engineers was appointed design and supervision consultant for the Deira Islands Mall project at a contract value of $10.8 million. RSP was also appointed as the design consultancy for the Nakheel Mall in Palm Jumeirah.

In April 2014, AE7 was awarded a contract worth $12.8 million to undertake infrastructure design, architectural and engineering services for the project.

Deira Islands will add 40km, including 21km of beachfront, to Dubai’s coastline. Construction of infrastructure will be undertaken soon, with tender documents for the same due to be released in May 2014.
