Al Jaber Group signs MoU with Etihad Rail

With a plan to utilise rail transport for its logistics operations, Al Jaber Crushers & Quarries, a subsidiary of Al Jaber Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE’s national railway.

By 2019, the company will be able to transport various products including stones, sand, and other aggregated material from its loading station at Shawkah in Ras Al Khaimah to offloading stations at Port Saqr, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi Industrial City, Al Ruwais and Al Ain.

Eng. Faris Al Mazrouei, Acting CEO of Etihad Rail and H. E. Khalifa Obaid Al Jaber, Al Jaber Group board member signed the MoU.

“We are delighted with the agreement and we believe that Al Jaber Group will witness significant benefits from our future rail operations,” said Eng. Al Mazrouei. “We are proud to work with established national companies and this is an important part of our strategy. Our services will provide UAE organizations with sustainable solutions in transportation and logistics.”

“We are contributing to the development of this prestigious project, and looking forward to benefiting of this 1,200km national rail network in the logistical operations of Al Jaber Crushers & Quarries,” said H. E. Al Jaber. “This agreement provides the most sustainable services in the transportation field in the UAE.”

Once fully operational, Etihad Rail will cater to both freight and passengers, spanning approximately 1,200 kilometers across the UAE. The rail network will connect urban and peripheral communities, facilitate trade, and is expected to open up communication channels and foster economic development across all seven emirates.  The network will also form a vital part of the GCC railway network, linking the UAE to Saudi Arabia via Ghweifat in the west and to Oman via Al Ain in the east.
