The Habtoor Leighton Group has signed a $395m contract with Dubai International Real Estate (DIRE) to deliver Package #8 of the Jewel of the Creek mixed-use project in Port Saeed, Dubai.
The project forms a significant part of the $816.7 million development, which HLG has worked on since 2012. The contractor was appointed to construct and complete the substructure works for four basement levels and ground floor slabs on the Creekside site, between Al Maktoum Bridge, Baniyas Road and the Floating Bridge.
“We are proud and elated to have awarded Package 8 of our Jewel of the Creek project to the Habtoor Leighton Group, as a continuation of HLG’s accomplishment in delivering previous work on Jewel of the Creek,” said Khalil Al Sayegh, general manager of DIRE.
“Upcoming packages for the Jewel of the Creek project will include a 4-star hotel, mixed-use residential offices and retail,” he added, pointing out that this was a significant project due to its geographical location and strategic importance, as well as in terms of its technical and commercial value.
Construction work on package #8 has commenced and completion is targeted for Q3 2017, said Riad T Sadik, chairman of HLG.
“Jewel of the Creek is of great significance to HLG and we are honoured to have been selected as DIRE’s contractor of choice,” he added.
HLG’s scope of work on the project includes the construction and completion of five hospitality buildings – ranging between 15 and 19 floors. These buildings will feature a hotel and serviced apartments, a ballroom and an attached café.
The contractor will also build a marina, including four footbridge and one vehicular bridge. Furthermore, they will conduct hard and soft landscaping works.
