LAVA (Laboratory for Visionary Architecture), a global network practice with offices in Germany and Australia, has been appointed as the Custodian of the Expo 2030 Riyadh Master plan. This appointment signifies a pivotal moment in the project’s journey, as it transitions into the detailed design and implementation phase.
Running from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, Expo 2030 Riyadh will be one of the ambitious World Expos ever conceived. It will feature 6m sqm site that will host 197 nations, 29 organisations, and over 42m visitors across five distinct districts.
Expo 2030 Riyadh, held under the theme ‘Foresight for Tomorrow’ in the city of action and ambition, Riyadh, will serve as a platform for participants to exchange ideas, develop solutions, and forge partnerships that drive tangible impact, address global challenges, and unlock new opportunities.
The World Expo will feature immersive cultural zones, daily activations, and AI-powered interactions, blending traditional Saudi hospitality with technology, as stated in the announcement.
After the 6 month event, the site will transform into a multicultural hub, for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the global community.
