Nakheel to construct $680.6mn-worth residential community in Nad Al Sheba
Arif and Bintoak awarded $7.3 million design and engineering contract

Dubai based developer Nakheel has announced the construction of a residential community, comprising 1,000 villas, to be undertaken in the emirate’s Nad Al Sheba area. The project’s total construction value is estimated to be worth $680.6 million and is due for completion in 2016.
Arif and Bintoak Consulting Architects and Engineers has been awarded a $7.3 million contract to undertake design and engineering services for the project. Tenders for construction will be released within three months and awarded by the end of the year.
Spanning 2.5 million square feet, the development will include 900 three to five bedroom villas for lease and a separate resort-style complex of 100 serviced homes. Daily transport services will be established for residents who wish to travel to Palm Jumeirah and other malls and attractions in the city.
Ali Rashid Lootah, chairman, said: “Nakheel’s new residential and resort-style community at Nad Al Sheba will further enhance our growing leasing, hospitality and retail offerings, all of which are key to our long term business strategy.
“This new development will appeal to a wide audience, including long term leasing clients and holidaymakers looking for an alternative to Dubai’s beach resorts and city hotels.”
The developer is also pacing ahead with its other planned projects around the emirate. Last week, Nakheel handed design and engineering contracts worth $12.5 million for its Deira Islands Mall and Palm West Beach projects to RSP Architects, Planners and Engineers.
A contract worth $326.70 million was also awarded for the construction of its Nakheel Mall on Palm Jumeirah to two UAE based construction firms, United Engineering Construction LLC and Actco General Contracting LLC.
