The capital emirate’s Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 will receive a boost as Adnoc Distribution prepares to unveil two environment-friendly service stations on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Located on either side of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed highway that runs through Yas Island, the two stations on Yas 1 and Yas 2 have been built with local materials (bricks, aluminium, glass and so on).
The design and mode of operation of both service stations will conserve natural and energy resources and the stations are equipped with advanced waste-recycling and water-disposal technology, besides energy-efficient lamps and air conditioners that use non-toxic gases intended to minimally impact the ozone layer.
Green cover is being provided through vegetation – requiring slightest irrigation – being planted in the surrounding areas. Adnoc Distribution is hoping to gain LEED Gold Certification for the ‘green’ service stations.
The establishment of these stations is a move on the company’s behalf to use compressed natural gas (CNG) as an alternative fuel in the emirate, and follows the maintenance centres Adnoc created to help vehicles run on natural gas.
