Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) won a contract worth $395mn (AED1.45bn) for the construction of residential towers within Al Habtoor Group’s development in Dubai.
Al Habtoor City, a $3bn (AED11bn) development by Al Habtoor Group will feature the mixed-use Al Habtoor Residential towers, located adjacent to the proposed Dubai Water Canal project.
“We’ve successfully delivered numerous major projects for the Al Habtoor Group in the past,” said José Antonio López-Monís, CEO and MD of HLG. “This project further demonstrates the confidence Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor has in us.
“We’re delighted to be selected to build what will be one of Dubai’s most prestigious and recognisable developments,” he added.
The contract includes the construction of one 52-storey and two 75-storey residential towers and a podium of seven floors, which includes the basement, ground floor, parking and five floors for retail use.
HLG is also working on the $515mn (AED1.9bn) worth Al Habtoor City hotel development, an integrated resort expected to complete in 2016, on an adjacent site.
HLG’s associated business, HSSG, is currently undertaking the enabling works for the project. The total value of construction, including consultant costs and piling but excluding interior fit-out and furniture, is $441mn (AED1.62bn), said a press release. Construction will commence immediately after enabling works are completed and the main project will be completed 32 months later.
