Volvo launches three new models for Middle East market
Truck manufacturer unveils the upgraded versions of Volvo FH, Volvo FM and Volvo FMX in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
“Not everyone can claim to have driven a truck at Yas Marina Circuit.”
This statement, overheard at the venue of Volvo Truck’s launch event held recently at the Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE, adequately sums-up the entire experience. Swedish transportation giant, Volvo Trucks, recently launched three new models – FH, FM and FMX – at the Yas Viceroy Hotel in UAE in an extravagant ceremony attended by exclusive industry members from the Middle East.
The new range is Volvo’s latest attempt to establish itself as the market leader in the region, and enhance its role as a complete provider of premium transport solutions in Middle Eastern and African markets.
“The Middle East is an extremely important market for Volvo Trucks,” said Lars-Erik Forsbergh, president of Volvo Trucks for the Middle East. “The FMX has been extensively tested in Oman and Saudi Arabia to ensure it can tackle some of the most demanding off-road conditions in the world.
“We are confident the new range will provide an unbeatable transport solution for customers across the region,” Forsbergh added.
Volvo’s flagship model, the FH, accounts for more than 60% of total sales for the company, and was recently awarded the International Truck of the Year 2014. The new Volvo FM has been upgraded with better suspension and lighter body-weight – amongst other features – to allow for flexibility of use.
Specifically of interest to the construction industry will be the new FMX construction truck, which has been added with features such as advanced rear air suspension. Customers of the truck in the Middle East are expected to be offered a training package specially-designed for construction drivers.
Big Project ME’s sister publication Construction Machinery ME will carry an extensive review of the event and trucks in the upcoming months.
