Kobelco cranes in Bangladesh

Two new CKL1000i crawlers sold for infrastructure projects

Kobelco Cranes India has sold two new CKL1000i lattice boom crawler cranes to one of the largest business houses in Bangladesh, Abdul Monem Ltd. (AML) for use on infrastructure projects.

AML is specialised in the construction of highway, airport, bridge, dredging, building and land development works, with 4 decades of project experience.

Earlier this year, both CKL1000i crawlers were deployed at a flyover project, used to erect girders weighing 70 tonnes by tandem lifting. The cranes are being used to lift 135 girders at the project, before beig moved to the next site, the much-awaited Padma Bridge Project, where 670 girders are to be erected.

“We have richest equipment fleet in Bangladesh,” said Engr Md Rafiqul Bari head of supply chain at AML. “We believe we have taken the right decision to purchase CKL1000i lattice boom crawler cranes from Kobelco Cranes India, the globally reputed crane manufacturer which will add value in our performance.”

The cranes were manufactured at Kobelco Cranes India’s facility on the east coast, shortening the cost of delivery and the voyage time to Bangladesh port.

With a number of infrastructure projects underway and more planned, the Bangladesh market is considered to have potential for further sales of construction equipment, said the manufacturer.

The Bangladeshi government has plans to undertake and implement infrastructure projects such as Padma Bridge project, thermal power stations, highway construction, railway bridges,  and elevated highways. Kobelco Cranes India is expecting sales of 10 cranes within 2014.
