ROSHN Group has become the first developer in Saudi Arabia to sign a long-term agreement for Mostadam sustainability certifications under the Sustainable Building program. The move reinforces the developer’s commitment to sustainable real estate development.
The deal, which is for three years, will allow ROSHN to step up the pace of sustainability certifications for all of its projects throughout the Kingdom, ensuring that all of its destinations and projects will be both built and operated in line with the environmental and social aspirations of Vision 2030 and its national programs, said a statement from the developer.
Launched in 2019, Mostadam aims to meet the needs of real estate development projects and operational assets in the Kingdom that address Saudi Arabia’s specific economic, social, and environmental conditions.
There are five levels of certification, with the lowest being ‘Green’ and the highest being ‘Diamond’. The program takes a holistic approach to sustainability development in the real estate sector, and takes into account sustainability of a particular site, utilisation of resources, procurement of materials and generation of waste, and how the site links into the geography around it.
A number of ROSHN’s projects are already Mostadam certified Diamond. ROSHN’s flagship project in Riyadh, SEDRA, and its community in East Riyadh are certified at the diamond level. Outside of Riyadh, ROSHN’s ALMANAR in Makkah and ALFULWA in AlHofuf are also certified at diamond level, as well as several of its buildings and assets, the developer confirmed.
