Saudi Arabia’s lucrative petrochecmicals industry is predicted to be producing 100 million tons per annum by 2015, according to research.

A recent BMI report attributed the growth in the Kingdom to the rapid development of production facilities.

“With large-scale projects underway to build new production facilities that aim to sustain the growth in production of various petrochemical products in Saudi Arabia, a much wider range of business opportunities have emerged for international suppliers and technology vendors in the petrochemical industry,” said Kamil Al Jawhari, project manager of Saudi Plastics & Petrochem at Riyadh Exhibition Company.

REC’s annual Saudi Plastics & Petrochem will run from November 28 to December 1, 2011, at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“The Saudi Plastics and Petrochem 2011 will surely serve as a conducive venue to support the business-to-business networking and marketing activities of key players in the petrochemical and related industries” he added.

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) alone is seeking to triple its total global output of all petrochemical products to 130 million TPA by 2020, including up to 20 million TPA of polymers.
