A string of regeneration project in Sharjah, designed to improve business opportunities and the quality of life for citizens, according to recent research by Shurooq.

The report cited the Al Majaz Waterfront, Sharjah Mall development and extension and the Al Buhaira Corniche as the seminal developments, along with the Heart of Sharjah project.

The introduction of a number of international hotel operators is also helping drive investment.

“Shuroog are committed to raisingthe standard of living within the Emirate which is evident in a number of up and coming developments they have planned,” said associate director of Cluttons Middle East Will Neill.

“The Al Majaz Waterfront will be a fantastic development and will help lead the way for the continued regeneration of the Corniche and Sharjah as a whole,” he added.

Cluttons say the developments will spur a “renaissance” in the Emirate where The bulk of Sharjah’s population is within the 25 – 34 year old age bracket.

Sharjah receives an approximate 1.5 million tourists annually; a figure expected to increase by around 10 – 15% annually.

“With Sharjah airport planning an AED 500 million expansion and Air Arabia expanding to new routes there is a clear demand to strengthen Sharjah’s position as a key destination for both tourists and residents of the UAE,” a statement from the firm read.
