Kobelco and CNH are now once again competitors in the US market

Kobelco and CNH are now once again competitors in the US market

Kobelco’s reemergence as a player in the excavator market is looking more serious, with news it plans to build an excavator plant in the United States.

The company will spend between $10-20 million to build a plant by 2015 with annual production capacity of 2000-3000 units, the Nikkei Asian Review reported.

Kobelco terminated its agreement with CNH, in part due to falling sales in North America. This year is has appointed a large number of new dealers in the United States and Canada.

According to Nikkei Asian Review, Kobelco hopes to boost US sales to 2,000 units in 2015 by adding another 10 or so agents to its network, aiming to take a 10% share of the US market. By launching local production, it expects to offer more price competitive products that fit customers’ preferences
