Iraq goverment buys seven Tadano cranes
Seven GT-550E-2 bought by Iraq’s Water Ministry
The Republic of Iraq’s Ministry of Water Resources has purchased seven Tadano GT-550E-2 truck cranes. The truck cranes, with a boom of 42m and a maximum safe working load of 55t at 3m, were delivered by local Tadano distributor United Iraqi Trading Equipment Company (UITECO).
The Ministry of Water Resources is responsible for looking after an extensive system of irrigation canals and dams across the country, working to balance the competing demands of irrigation, municipal and industrial water supply, hydropower, flood control and environmental requirements.
Not least among its challenges is the restoration of the Mesopotamian marshes. The former regime drained more than 90% of the original 20,000km2 that made up the Hawizeh and Hammar marshes, driving many thousands of people from their homes.
The GT-550E-2 truck cranes were manufactured in Beijing by the BQ-Tadano joint venture. Three went to the General Commission for operation of irrigation and?drainage projects; two to the General Commission for groundwater; one to the State Commission for dams and reservoirs; and one to the Department of general estuary.
