RTA and ICE explore cooperation
Parties agree on training scheme for Emirati engineering graduates as well
Mattar Al Tayer says a cooperation agreement with the ICE is being explored.
The RTA is exploring the possibility of a cooperation agreement with the British Institution of Civil Engineers following a meeting on Wednesday.
The announcement comes following the news of an agreement between the two parties, which will provide training for Emirati engineering graduates, which would allow them to qualify for obtaining full membership of the ICE.
Richard Coakley, president of the Institution of Civil Engineers in Britain, is the head of one of the longest serving professional institutions in the UK. It was established in 1818 with affiliated members touching almost 80,000 engineers hailing from 150 countries.
During the meeting, Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the Board and executive director of the RTA, reviewed the progress of the training program set for RTA employees at the ICE; which was kicked off by eight engineers, five from the Rail Agency and three from the Strategic Planning Department, in an internship that ranges from three to five years.
The meeting also explored means of cooperation between the RTA and some British universities through the ICE, with a view to patronising some engineering research and studies conducted by the RTA.
This will also extend to documenting RTA achievements and expertise, so as to step up cooperation and the exchange of knowledge with countries that are planning to undertake similar projects.
