Egypt’s Archplan Developments says region’s first urban forest project reaches 60% completion mark
The $16mn project is being built in the New Administrative Capital in Egypt
Egypt’s Archplan Developments has said that it has completed 60% of construction works on its US $16mn Il Cuore Verde commercial development in the New Administrative Capital.
A senior official at the developer said that the seven-storey project, which is being hailed as the first building in the Middle East to incorporate the concept of an urban forest, will be completed in 2026 as per a report by Zawya.
In July 2022, Rosatom said it had begun onsite works on Egypt’s first nuclear plant.
Spread over an area of 3,400sqm and consisting of 110 commercial units, the Il Cuore Verde project was developed in partnership with Italian architect Stefano Boeri. The concept of an urban forest was pioneered by Boeri in 2014 with the Bosco Verticale project in Milan, Italy.
Shadi Al-Zeini, member of the Board of Directors, was quoted as saying that the external structure of the project will be completed this year.
In August 2022, CRTKL said it was working with Cairo Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt to expand its capacities and facilities.
Archplan Development CEO, Ahmed Ayman Ashour, added that the sustainability elements of the project will be enhanced by solar-powered lighting and smart controls for lighting and heat, so as to reduce electricity consumption and carbon emissions. He added that Archplan Engineering Consultants, the developer’s sister company, was involved in the design of the New Administrative Capital’s masterplan and helped incorporate green and smart concepts into the megaproject.
