Sennebogen to launch battery-powered telecrawler at Bauma 2022
The 653 E Electro Battery has been developed in collaboration with Dutch dealer, Van den Heuvel
German-based Sennebogen will present the first battery-powered telescopic crawler crane in its range at Bauma 2022, the company has announced.
According to the manufacturer, the new 50-tonne 653 E Electro Battery combines the benefits of battery technology with the advantages of the telescopic crawler crane concept allowing the user to work completely emission-free due to the Dual Power Management System.

“With the 653 Electro Battery, you can work fully electrically on any type of construction site and for an unlimited period of time,” said the company in a statement.
“This is because, like Sennebogen’s battery-powered material handler 817 Electro Battery already launched on the market at IFAT, the 653 Electro Battery electric crane equipped with a 210kWh battery pack can be operated both in battery-only mode and while charging from the mains. As soon as the machine is connected to the mains, the mains power is used for lifting activities, while excess power fed into the system simultaneously recharges the batteries,” it added.
The machine has been developed in collaboration with Dutch dealer, Van den Heuvel, and is the first battery-powered telescopic crawler crane in its range. In addition to positive carbon footprint, the machine is expected to reduce service requirements, as maintenance procedures such as engine oil changes are eliminated.
Early in August 2022, Terex announced its investment in Acculon Energy to accelerate MEWP electrification, while later in the month, XCMG said it would release new electric products in its largest exhibition to date at Bauma 2022.
