Atlas Copco wins $23m Turkey generation contract
Four powertrains to provide electricity for 61,000 houses
Swedish machinery manufacturer Atlas Copco has won a $23 million order to deliver equipment for two renewable energy geothermal power plants.
Atlas Copco’s Gas and Process division will deliver in total four geothermal power trains with a total gross capacity of 80 MW.
Two of the power trains, which include expander generators, will be used to expand a generation plant in Pamukören, Turkey, where the company is already supplying equipment.
The additional two units, also including expander generators, will be installed at a new site near the town of Sultanhisar.
“We have built a strong reputation for delivering highly efficient solutions in the renewable energy sector with a comprehensive product line,” said Stephan Kuhn, president of Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique Business Area.
“Winning this order highlights our strong commitment to customer satisfaction – and to delivering the innovative technology that unlocks geothermal energy’s potential.”
The two plants will generate electricity using the Organic Rankine Cycle, which converts fluids into vapor. The generator trains will deliver some 500 GWh of baseline renewable energy per year, enough to power around 61,000 households.
