Social projects worth $894,000 launched in Oman by Jusoor Foundation
Projects are being undertaken sustainably and for the benefit of the public
Oman’s Jusoor Foundation has launched four projects within its social investment programme in North Al Batinah. $894,000 will be invested into the projects, which are being funded by OQ and Sohar Aluminium.
According to a report by the Oman News Agency (ONA), the ceremony was held in Al Qurm Natural Park in Shinas, under the auspices of Sayyid Khalifa Al Mardas Al Busaidi, secretary general for Governorates Affairs at the Ministry of Interior. The event was attended by Sheikh Saif Hamiyar Al Malik Al Shehhi, governor of North Al Batinah and chairman of Jusoor Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Sheikh Saif noted, “These projects fall within the programme of social projects implemented by Jusoor Foundation that contributes to cultural development.” Additionally, he pointed out that the Board of Directors of Jusoor Foundation ensures the projects are sustainable and benefit the public.
The first project is the 28,000sqm Al Qurm Natural Park in the Wilayat of Shinas, with a total investment of $521,000. The development included the implementation of a 3km walkway, an arena theatre, a migratory bird viewing platform, 11 family rest areas and barbecue sites, as well as the construction of a crossing bridge over the waterway, children’s games, green fields and a cafe. It also included the establishment of a park gate, mosque, security booth, toilets and parking lot.
The second project was the construction of a park in the mountainous area of Al Hayleen in the Wilayat of A’Suwaiq on an area of 2,000sqm, which is surrounded by a 320m walkway. The park features children rides, as well as a cafe, toilets and family rest areas. It is being developed at a cost of $144,000, which is contributed by Sohar Aluminium.
The third project was to provide equipment to clean beaches in the wilayats of the Governorate. The project is being developed at a cost of $104,000. The project also includes the supply and installation of 60 recreational rides for public parks in the Wilayat of Sohar for a total cost of $130,000. Both projects are being funded by OQ.
Sheikh Saif added, “Jusoor Foundation continues to implement other projects as per an annual action plan, which demonstrated its positive role in the Wilayats of the Governorate of North Al Batinah.”
Al Mutasim Said Al Sariri, member of the Board of Directors of Jusoor Foundation, Representative of OQ, concluded, “These social projects reflect the extent of the real partnership between the government and the private sectors and proves the achievement of social responsibility. OQ is constantly working to continuously contribute to sustainable development projects, especially those that meet the aspirations of the community, whether through projects implemented by Jusoor Foundation, projects implemented by OQ directly, or those carried out in partnership with some government institutions.”
