Intermat Middle East’s line-up looks set to have a strong international contingent when it returns in October – although Chinese participation could be down.

Event organisers Clarion Events Middle and Intermat veterans Comexposium have revealed that participants include Putzmeister, Liebherr, Terex Finlay, Sennebogen and LiuGong.

Intermat Middle East takes place between 8-10 October kicking off a busy end of year for shows in the UAE, with Big-5 following a month later in Dubai.

Comparisons between the two will be inevitable and with that in mind, the organisers claim a survey of 150 top buyers showed 85% prefer Abu Dhabi as a location for an equipment show in the UAE.

While not the final list – there are still four months to go before the event begins – the organisers said that the survey results “state emphatically that the strategic location” of INTERMAT Middle East is ideal for organisations and individuals in the construction and infrastructure industries to network and establish profitable relationships for building the future of the UAE, GCC and Middle East, North Africa and Asian Sub continent.

Last year’s event attracted Chinese exhibitors such as Sany, Guangxi Heavy Industry Company, Shantui and Sichuan Construction Machinery – all of whom are absent from the most recent list. Interestingly the latest Big-5 exhibitor list does not feature them either, which may be an indication of a disappointing 12 months for some Chinese companies in the region and a change in approach for others.

Clarion Events Middle East and Comexposium Francehave revealed that they have secured the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Federal Minister of Public Works.

“We are grateful to have the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. The UAE has established its presence as the centre for trade and development in the region,” said Maryvonne Lanoë, Intermat exhibition director. “Support from regional governments and municipalities, who are developing urban master plans and multimillion-dollar infrastructure projects, plays an important role in ensuring the success of this international trade exhibition for construction products, building machinery, materials and equipment. Intermat Middle East 2012 will aim to support the region’s significant investments over the coming years in the construction and infrastructure sectors.”

The previous event was inaugurated by His Excellency Ahmed Mohammed Shareef, Undersecretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs in Abu Dhabi, UAE and the Department continues its support for Intermat Middle East as its strategic foundation and knowledge partner, said the organisers.

“IntermatMiddle East represents a unique knowledge platform for the major infrastructure projects across the UAE and wider Middle East,” said HE Ahmed Mohammed Shareef. “ Intermat 2012 will be convened at a time when the UAE and the GCC countries in general are witnessing large scale infrastructure and economic development projects in all sectors.”
