Egypt to build 17 new smart cities across country

The Egyptian Minister of Communication and IT has revealed that the North African country is building 17 smart cities that will be completely reliant on technology, a project that is part of an ambitious target to provide internet access to more than 58 million people over the next three years.

According to a report by Arab News, Amr Talaat said that the Egyptian government aims for to reach 25,000 villages across the country. Talaat was speaking at the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit in Dubai.

He added that Egypt is working on several projects to increase broadband coverage to remote and far-flung regions of the country.
