DGDA and Saudi Sports for All Federation signs MoU to turn Diriyah Gate into a sporting destination

Diriyah Gate Development Authority and Saudi Sports for All Federation signs MoU to turn Diriyah Gate into a sporting destination

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) and Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) have signed a MoU to extend co-operation in the fields of developing and promoting sport in Diriyah, it has been announced.

According to a statement, the MoU is aimed at serving community sports in Diriyah and developing sport programmes for the local community, and to exchange expertise. It will also pave the way for the introduction of joint programmes and community events in the Diriyah Gate and Wadi Hanifah areas.

Diriyah Gate Development Authority CEO Jerry Inzerillo pointed out that the MoU will transform the historical area into a sporting destination, through the development of community programmes.

“Given Diriyah Gate Development’s exposure on the international sports stage, providing sports from global sporting events to a full program of grassroots-level activities is important to achieve this goal,” he stated.

The MoU aims to increase the ratio of people participating in sports and physical activities, fulfilling the strategic aims of both organizations to increase access and participation. It also aims to raise the awareness of community members in order to increase the proportion of the population practicing sports in Diriyah, he added.

On the strategic agreement, SFA President Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud said: “It is the latest in a series of agreements the SFA has signed to promote sports at a community level. The MoU will play an essential role in achieving the common goals of both organizations.”

The recent successes of DGDA at the international sports level include the DGDA Show Jumping Tournament and Formula E Championship, which fully relied on clean and renewable energy, he added.
