Mika Sugimoto of Komatsu Women’s Judo Club will begin her attempt to win gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games on Friday.
The Komatsu Women’s Judo Club was founded in April 1991 to commemorate the company’s 70th anniversary. Sugimoto won two titles at the World Judo Championships held in Tokyo in September 2010 and in May won the championship title for the over 78kg category at the 2012 All Japan Weight Category Judo Championships, her fourth title in four years at the tournament.
In a statement Komatsu said: “We at Komatsu extend sincere appreciation for the support given to our judo team members and would like to ask for your continuing support for Mika Sugimoto at the London Olympics.”
