Bahrain International Airport’s new terminal on track to open in Q2, 2022
The current phase involved the construction of two departure gates, six air bridges and bus departure gates
Bahrain International Airport’s (BIA) new passenger terminal, which is taking shape in the western section of the airport, is in its final phase of construction and is said to be over 50% complete. The terminal is said to be on track for opening in Q2, 2022 according to the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) chairman Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.
According to a statement, Mohammed spoke to the media after an inspection tour of the BIA project site, along with representatives from the project consultant, Hill International, the contractor, and several BAC officials.
He is said to have praised the efforts of everyone involved and emphasised the importance of maintaining the current pace of work to complete the project on time. The minister and the delegation were later briefed on the progress of the latest phase, which began in February.
Phase Two of the project involved the construction of two departure gates, six air bridges and bus departure gates, while the third and final phase will focus on aircraft fuel supply system, the statement from BAC concluded.
