Global firms competing for road lighting project in Abu Dhabi
Project will help ADIO realise electricity savings of almost 2,400-million kWh
Nine global companies have pre-qualified for the second phase of the Abu Dhabi Road Lighting Programme, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) has announced. ADIO is undertaking the lighting upgrade project in collaboration with the Department of Municipal and Transport (DMT), under a public-private partnership (PPP) project tender.
According to a statement from ADIO, the scope of work includes financing, supply, installation and operation and maintenance of 135,742 LED energy-efficient luminaires in Abu Dhabi. The firm says the shortlisted firms are from the UAE, China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Israel and Singapore.
The list includes EDF (Electricite de France); Israeli infrastructure specialists Shikun and Binui; EESL/Hansa Energy Solutions (India); China Railway Construction Corporation International (CRCCI); Singapore-based ST Engineering and UAE groups Dussman Gulf, Dutco Construction, Orascom and Saif Bin Darwish.
On completion, the project will help ADIO net significant electricity savings of almost 2,400-million kWh, which is said to be equivalent to a reduction of 76% in power consumption, over a 12-year concession period.
