Volvo and India joint venture partner Eicher plan to sell their revamped truck range across second tier and emerging markets, including the Middle East, a senior executive has revealed.
Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicle (VECV), a 50/50 JV between the two companies set up in 2008, is preparing to launch a heavily upgraded range of trucks and buses featuring new engines and cabins in 2013.
In an interview with the Times of India newspaper, Volvo Group Truck Joint Ventures VP Pat Ostber said that the brand will be used to target markets in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
“In the long-term, we see Eicher developing as an emerging market brand for the Volvo group,” he said.
