Mall of Oman to open in September, Majid Al Futtaim says
Retail and leisure destination will be the company’s biggest offering in the Sultanate
Majid Al Futtaim has announced its fifth shopping and leisure destination in Oman will open in September. Mall of Oman is said to be the firm’s largest retail destination in the country with 140,000sqm of retail space and over 350 retail outlets including 55 dining options, and a range of entertainment and leisure offerings for all ages.
“Through the launch of Mall of Oman, customers will be immersed in engaging shopping and entertainment experiences. And for the first time ever, the largest indoor snow park, Vox Cinemas and Magic Planet will all be found in one location, bringing everyone closer to creating lasting memories,” said Husam Al Mandhari, director of the shopping malls at Majid Al Futtaim Properties in Oman at a virtual event which was attended by over 200 retailers.
Al Mandhari then gave the future tenants the opportunity to explore a transformational development for the future of retail in Muscat. This was the first time that Majid Al Futtaim was showcasing the exterior and interior of the mall for the tenants, the statement noted.
Welcoming the latest partners, Al Mandhari gave them additional information about how they will be supported by the Majid Al Futtaim’s retail design and delivery team to offer best in class store fit-outs, the developer said.
According to him, the mall will play a significant role in supporting local communities by enhancing the sultanate’s retail and entertainment offerings for both residents and tourists. It will also boost the local economy by creating 3,500 jobs.
As part of its economic contribution to the country, Majid Al Futtaim will support with the upskilling of Omani nationals by preparing them for a potential career in the retail industry through Tamheen, which is an initiative in collaboration with The Retail Academy, Al Mandhari explained.
“We also look forward to pairing our incredible Tamheen graduates with our latest retail partners in time for the grand opening, providing new job opportunities to many,” he concluded.
