Mott MacDonald has announced that Simon Cartwright has joined its transport planning team in Dubai and will focus on projects across the Middle East. Over the past 12 years, he is said to have gained experience delivering projects throughout the Middle East, where he managed clients regulatory and authority requirements.
He joins Mott MacDonald from WSP in Dubai where he was regional sector lead for transport planning and worked on the Red Sea Airport Masterplan, Emirates Tower Development Masterplan, Etihad Rail Freight & Passenger Forecasting Models and EXPO 2020 Dubai.
According to a statement from Mott MacDonald, in his role he will concentrate on advisory and future mobility, deliver professional and technical excellence, liaising with other leaders internationally, as well as provide advice on key future trends in the industry. He will also be responsible for project directorship and delivery, team development and management, business development and customer liaison.

Cartwright has 20 years’ experience in mobility and transport planning. He holds a holistic understanding of the role of transport planning and mobility in society through his knowledge in scheme development, design and delivery and subsequent operational analysis on a wide range of transport projects, the statement noted.

He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Aided Engineering Design from Strathclyde University, and a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Glasgow.
