Orders from Middle Eastern markets such as Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have formed part of Doosan Infracore’s recent contracts signed for the delivery of 221 of the brand’s machines in the emerging markets this year.
A statement from the Korean equipment giant said that countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America make up the contracts it has signed to deliver the 221 units of construction machinery. Orders from the Middle East include one for 27 excavators and wheeled loaders from a mining company in Oman and another to supply 35 excavators to a large construction company in Qatar. Another big order in the GCC region will see Doosan provide 10 large 50t excavators to a construction company in Saudi Arabia, while in the wider Middle East, 54 Doosan branded machines will also be supplied to a Turkish equipment rental company.
In North Africa, the company has signed a contract for 35 excavators and wheeled loaders for a large Moroccan construction company that is actively conducting business in Northern and Western Africa and is one of Doosan Infracore’s major customers, owning more than 300 Doosan products. Doosan Infracore has also won an order for 35 wheeled loaders for various agricultural projects led by a government department in Egypt, which currently owns more than 100 Doosan machines.
Meanwhile, Doosan Infracore has secured more large customers across Africa, having received an order for 20 excavators to be used in gold mines from a mining company in Ghana.
Elsewhere, the company will supply a total of 50 mid- to large-sized excavators, including 30 DX340LC and 20 DX480LC models, to a local construction company in Hong Kong that won the runway expansion project for the Hong Kong International Airport. In Thailand, Doosan Infracore signed a contract to supply a total of 38 excavators and wheel loaders for a mine development and civil construction company that had previously used products from the company’s competitors. A dairy company in Vietnam has also placed an order for 20 mini excavators.
Doosan Infracore added that it is actively penetrating the Latin American market and has received orders for a total of 16 excavators and wheeled loaders from construction and rental companies in Colombia.
Jeong Kwan-hee, MD for sales in emerging markets at Doosan Infracore, said: “The new orders are the result of our efforts to foster dealers and develop the market even in the midst of the market slump caused by the spread of Covid-19. We plan to accelerate our efforts to enhance our brand image in emerging markets and expand sales volume and market share accordingly as the market situation improves.”
