The Oman Ministry of Transport and Communications is set to float tenders soon, worth an estimated$285.86m and divided in two packages, for infrastructure projects at the port.

The first package covers the construction of all support infrastructure, the gate, offices and roads, while the second package is for setting up concrete slabs, the rails for cranes and facilities for utilities like electricity and water sewage.

The entire port development, which is estimated to cost approximately $2bn, is divided into seven packages.

The two packages are expected to be completed within 18 months, which will help the port authorities to go for full-fledged operation in 2015.
