Dubai Scholars says new school building to be completed in August 2021
34,000sqft addition will boost school’s enrolment capacity by 400 students
Dubai Scholars, a member of the British Schools of the Middle East, has said that work on its new school building is due for completion in August 2021, with the 34,000sqft addition helping to boost the school’s enrolment capacity by 400 students.
The project will be the largest the school has undertaken since opening at its present location in 1994. The ground plus three building will include a number of science labs, as well as a new Media Studies lab, principal Frank Scarcelli said.
The new building will not only provide much needed expanded capacity but also support the introduction of DS’s new enrichment initiatives centred on next-generation skills development, he added.
“The new building allows us to offer expanded initiatives that support Dubai Scholars’ ability to stay at the forefront of global education in developing future-ready children. We are excited about these developments and this new chapter in the DS story,” Scarcelli said.
Delivering an enriched National Curriculum of England, Dubai Scholars is a school of just over 1,900 students from Early Years Foundation Stage to Year 13.
It is an Edexcel authorised school and participates in Model UN and the UN Girls Up programme. Graduates from Dubai Scholars have attended some of the most prestigious international universities such as Stanford University, London Imperial College, City College London, Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Southern California.
“These initiatives include the launch of Synthesis of Learning (SoL) – a new program based on a constructivist approach that allows for children to fully apply their learning to tangible and real-world concerns and a full revamp of the school’s Extra Curricular Activities to support a rich provision of non-academic activities for holistic development,” he concluded.
