Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has successfully upgraded its ISO certification for the Occupational Safety and Health Management System to the updated version, ISO 45001:2018.
In its statement Empower said it successfully completed the second surveillance procedure for the renewal of the Quality Management System, ISO 9001:2015 and the Environmental Management System, ISO 14001:2015. This is said to be part of the district cooling major’s commitment to adopting best practices, the highest standards and top administrative systems with regards to quality, environment, and occupational health and safety.
The company also said it has implemented integrated management system for quality, health and safety and environment since 2006, and has consistently adhered to international standards.
“Detailed analyses have been conducting by Empower on various environmental impacts, occupational health and safety risks assessments, and control measures are implemented in every project it launches. The company attaches much importance to quality within the framework of strict control measures. In this regard, all domestic and international legal requirements for health, safety and environment are met and systematic training, inspections and audits are done to ensure the continuous improvement of all our systems,” said CEO Ahmad bin Shafar.
The new ISO 45001 sets certain requirements for the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System, which enables Empower to improve effective risk control measures in place to provide healthy and safe workplaces for all stakeholders by providing an integrated system that seeks to prevent work injuries and accidents and meet customers’ needs and expectations, the statement said.
