L&T business unit secures 400KV substation contract in Qatar

Issuing an update on business, the company said it has also won several other power contracts in its home market

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that its Power Transmission & Distribution business unit has won a major substation contract in Qatar. As per the terms of the deal, the company will install a 400kV substation to help improve grid stability and enable the use of existing switchgear without major replacements.

Issuing an update about its recent business activity, the company said it also won several orders across its spectrum of offerings in India including two engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders to establish more than 400MW of solar photovoltaic projects in Gujarat, as well as a 765kV double circuit transmission line package in Rajasthan.

The firm said it also beat out competitors to secure orders from West Bengal, for the installation of high voltage distribution systems in certain districts on a turnkey mode, and another order to construct 220kV and 132kV transmission lines in the state.

“These orders stand testimony to the fact that L&T is uniquely positioned as a dependable EPC player to deliver projects ranging from electrification to energy transition with speed and scale, to utilities and developers globally,” explained T. Madhava Das, the Whole-Time director and senior executive vice president (Utilities) at Larsen & Toubro.

In addition, L&T won a 400 kV substation order from Tamil Nadu. The scope of the package involves establishing a complete substation including associated transformers, reactors, switchgear, control and protection, substation automation systems.
