Iraq announces plans for residential units for workers in Karbala
Affordable homes project will be funded by local investors and the General Federation of Iraqi Workers
Iraq has announced plans to build residential units for workers in the country’s central Karbala governorate in a bid to ease a housing crisis in the region.
According to various local media reports, large plots of land have already been allocated for the setting up of these affordable homes. The affordable homes project will be funded by local investors and the General Federation of Iraqi Workers, a report by Arab Finance said, citing the official Arabic newspaper, Alsabah.
“This project is intended to provide houses at affordable prices to local workers who need housing,” said Karbala’s Governor Nassif Al Khattabi, the report added.
The homes will be constructed in various parts of Karbala in coordination with the Construction and Housing Ministry, he said.
