Damac Properties, the Duba-based luxury project developer, has said that it has achieved a key milestone on its Aykon City Project, on the banks of the Dubai Canal on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.
In a statement, the developer said that the structure of Tower B has been fully completed, with approximately 90,000cu m of concrete going into the structure. Additionally, around 11,000 tonnes of steel were used – roughly half the weight of the Statue of Liberty.
Once completed, the 53-storey tower will stand at a height of 246 metres and will house 1,218 units. The majority of units will be studio and one-bedroom apartments, but there will be 138 two-bedroom units, and 45 three-bedroom apartments, it added.
Aykon City is located on Sheikh Zayed Road and adjacent to the Downtown Dubai area, where Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall are located.
The Dubai developer said that it views these milestones as positive progress, especially amid the challenges facing the real estate industry due to the effects of Covid-19 on the market and tourism industry.
“We are happy with the completion of the structure of Tower B in Aykon City and look forward to expediting the completion of our remaining inventory despite the challenges we may face,” remarked Niall McLoughlin, Senior Vice President of Damac.
“Our progress is a reflection of our strong organisation, full of hard working and dedicated employees and a forward-thinking team of managers,” he added.
The news about the completion of the structure comes in the wake of the developer awarding a main works contract worth $49.2 million in October for the construction of Zada Tower – a Damac project in Business Bay, which is also near the Aykon City development.
