Enerpac introduces ZU5 post tensioning pumps
Available in two versions, new pumps tackle concrete applications 30% faster when strengthening steel strands in reinforced concrete
Enerpac has announced the launch of its new ZU5 Post Tensioning Pumps, a three-stage pump that offers increased efficiency for post tensioning contractors when strengthening steel strands in reinforced concrete.
With six pistons for increased stressing speed, operators can stress more strands or tendons per day. According to a statement from Enerpac, in a head-to-head job-site test, the ZU5 performed 30% faster than traditional hydraulic pumps. The company added that the ZU5 improves contractors’ ability to stay on schedule or move onto other jobs more quickly.
Available in two models, the ZU5 features an on-pump control switch, on-pump remote switch and user adjusted relief valve. The ZU5708RB-P features a three-way, two-position valve. The ZU5908PB-P model features a four-way, three-position valve along with a pendant control.
“Concrete post tensioning allows longer clear spans, thinner slabs, fewer beams and more slender elements. Thinner slabs mean less concrete is required. In addition, it means a lower overall building height for the same floor-to-floor height. The new Enerpac ZU5 Post Tensioning Pump specifically designed for concrete post tensioning applications, offers increased jobsite efficiency for post tensioning contractors,” said Enerpac.

Among the features of the ZU5 are electro-mechanical components for easy diagnostics and service, gauge port integrated into valve and a 6.8 litre hydraulic oil reservoir. The ZU5708RB-P has an easily accessible on/off switch while the ZU5908PB-P comes with a 3m pendant cord. The ZU5708RB-P also comes with a proven Enerpac VM22 valve for single acting mono-strand stressing jacks, ideal for slab-on-grade, motor on/off switch on pump. The ZU5908PB-P has Enerpac’s VM43-LPS valve for double acting mono-strand stressing jacks, ideal for elevated slabs and pendant controls.
