CSCEC opens the doors on Egypt’s New Administrative Capital CBD project
Online open-day event showcases the construction progress of a series of landmark buildings
China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) held an online open-day event on the Central Business District (CBD) project in Egypt’s new administrative capital last week.
CSCEC was appointed on the CBD development in 2016 by the country’s Ministry of Housing, Utilities & Urban Communities.
Described by Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly as glorious as the ancient pyramids CBD has a total area of 505,000 sqm.
The project consists of 20 buildings, including 12 high-rise office buildings, five high-rise apartment buildings, two luxury hotels, and a 385.8m-tall ‘iconic’ tower, which will be the tallest in Africa, it explained in a statement.
CSCEC had immediately taken preventive measures since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in January to ensured the orderly operation of construction works, whilst effectively protecting the safety of its staff and contractors, explained technical engineer Waleed Ramadan.
Civil Engineer Mohamed Nagar discussed “building machine” deployed for the tower which can finish building one floor in five days. With 80 floors in total, construction is currently at the 40th floor.
