RAK AMI Hotel has described the passing of 40% of construction as a milestone in the development of the Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island project
The resort is scheduled for completion in September 2021 and is progressing as per schedule, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis, said the developer.
RAK AMI Hotel added in a statement that structural work has seen 1.45 million manhours without loss-time incidents
Excavation, piling and enabling works were completed by NSCC in February 2019. This led to Al Ali Construction & Development beating three other major contractors for the construction contract with groundwork commencing in April 2019 and work on the hotel starting in July last year.
“Within a year, the project made remarkable progress. Structural works have reached the seventh floor while over 50 per cent of the construction of the beach villas has also been completed. The foundation for the spacious ballroom that can host more than 400 guests has also been completed,” said RAK AMI Hotel.
Architect Abdulla Al Abdouli, chairman, RAK AMI Hotel, said the developer was focused on ensuring not only the timely completion of Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island, “but also to create industry benchmarks in its construction and operation. Work has been ongoing in the past months, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis. The hotel will be a vibrant addition to the hospitality sector of the Emirate when it opens next year.”

Our commitment is to ensure cost-competitive and high-quality project management.”
According to RAK AMI Hotel, the construction is deploying a dedicated team of over 520 skilled workers and professionals on-site. A total of 460 working piles have been erected for the project by NSCC. Over 20,000 cubic metres of concreted have been poured to date by the project team that includes: MACE -project manager, ATKINS – supervision consultant and KQS – quantity surveyors. The entire project, excluding the piles, will need over 29,000 cubic metres of concrete. The frame of the two towers are on-schedule for completion in the fourth quarter of this year with bridge and roof concreting works also be undertaken as per schedule, following the clear timelines set.
The 1,600 key resort is located centrally in Al Marjan Island, the flagship lifestyle and leisure destination developed by Marjan, the master-developer of freehold property in Ras Al Khaimah.
