New $266mn hospital to be set-up in Jeddah by Al Murjan Group and Mediclinic Middle East
Commissioning of the hospital is expected by the second quarter of 2022
The Al Murjan Group and Mediclinic Middle East have inked a deal to set-up a 200-bed hospital in Jeddah. The 800,000sqm project will take shape on King Abdul Aziz Road in the northern part of Jeddah and is expected to cost US $266m.
As per the terms of the deal, Mediclinic Middle East will manage the hospital and support the Al Murjan Group with expertise and advisory services in planning, design and construction.
The eight floor hospital will be delivered in line with international standards and is to offer comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including general surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, emergency, and trauma care.
“This will serve as the cornerstone for high-quality health care services in Saudi Arabia, offering state-of-the-art health care facilities, from some of the best practitioners, using best practices and meet international quality standards, and contribute to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030,” explained Abdulrahman Khalid bin Mahfouz, group chairman of the Al Murjan Group.
He noted that the Al Murjan Group had committed itself for over 40 years to delivering excellence in all its areas of work, and notes the group views the joint venture as a continuation of that commitment.
Al Murjan Group vice chairman Sultan Khalid bin Mahfouz said that on completion, Al Murjan Mediclinic will provide more than 1,000 job opportunities and will also create new opportunities for entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector.
Mediclinic Middle East CEO David Hadley expressed delight at the partnership with Al Murjan Group and the UK group’s foray into Saudi Arabia.
He said, “There is a growing demand for high quality, internationally recognised standards of health care services in Saudi Arabia. Mediclinic, with more than 35 years’ experience of delivering health care services across Switzerland, Southern Africa and the UAE, is excited by the opportunity to partner with Al Murjan Group to establish a leading private hospital in Jeddah and further expansion opportunities across Saudi Arabia.
