Kuwaiti architecture firm SSH has completed the design of the Algeria Gulf Bank headquarters in Algiers and is now providing construction supervision services for the $56 million project, the firm said on Sunday.
In 2010, the firm was awarded First Prize in the 2010 AGB international design competition. The building will be located on the El Biar district roundabout in Algeria’s capital city, Algeirs.
The project consists of two 16 storey twin towers rising from a shared base within the 29,514sqm site. The towers are oriented towards the roundabout.
The ground floor will consist of a main entry hall, reception, conference hall and a VIP Banking Branch, which will extend to the first floor and the basement. Bank offices will be located on all floors except the second, which will house an employee cafeteria.
The structure of the project will feature a steel skeleton with composite slabs, while the building will be provided with a full range of services, including special security systems that are required for banks.
A distinguishing architectural feature will be the way the building plays with light and shade, contrasting between the building’s transparent and opaque facade.
SSH followed a sustainable design philosophy and incorporated energy savings and the use of environmental friendly materials.
