Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) has announced that construction work is more than 50% complete on the Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and that the project will be ready by the end of the year.
According to a statement from Musanada, the scope of work involves construction of the building, including the facilities and administrative offices, design and construction of a football field and games field, and the development of a woman’s beach.
This is in addition to landscaping works and external walkways, with a distinctive design reflecting the urban development witnessed by the UAE capital, it added.
Spanning an area of 14,000sqm, the project is being built for the Abu Dhabi Sports Council at an estimated cost of $43 million, in cooperation with a number of government entities and strategic partners, the report said.
Work is progressing inline with the construction plan, as per the agreed delivery schedule. A 500-strong workforce, including labourers, engineers and consultants are working around the clock to complete the project and deliver it to the highest international specifications and standards.
Furthermore, Musanada highlighted that all the materials used on the project are recyclable.
Council General Secretary Aref Hamad Al Awani said: “The specifications of the project highlight our keenness to provide all factors for women to progress in society and provide them with an opportunity to practice various sports, thus calling upon all women to turn sports into an ideal daily healthy lifestyle, which will have great results on the community and help achieve the objectives of the next phase.”
The project, he stated, was being closely supervised by HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation.
“The execution of this project is part of the efforts to realise the UAE leadership’s vision towards creating an ideal sports environment that encourages women to practice sports and follow healthy lifestyles, as women are the mainstay of the family and role models who will raise generations capable of building a better future,” he added.
