Coronavirus: KNPC builds temporary centres to accommodate 7,000 workers

The three sites dedicated for the temporary centres include Al-Ardiya, Al-Jahra, and South Al-Sabahiya areas

Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has announced that its begun work to prepare three temporary centres to accommodate 7000 workers across the country and in in-line with Kuwait’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Abdullah Al Ajmi, deputy chairman of projects and the official spokesperson at KNPC, said that the company’s initiative follows the Kuwaiti cabinet’s directives. He added that it also comes in-line with the framework of contributions by companies in the oil sector to support the Kuwait’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Public Works has dedicated three sites to KNPC as the designated areas for the development of the centres, which include Al-Ardiya, Al-Jahra, and South Al-Sabahiya. Al Ajmi noted that these areas are being equipped and provided with the basic facilities and services that are required to provide appropriate living conditions to the large number of workers.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health, yesterday, announced that the total number of infections in the country has reached 1751, with 93 new cases confirmed in the previous 24 hours.
