Dubai-based developer Nakheel has announced that it is supplying the emirate’s frontline medical staff with 485,000 items of protective clothing as part of its ongoing pledge to support the fight against COVID-19.
According to a statement from Nakheel, the supplies have been delivered to Dubai Health Authority for distribution among doctors and nurses in Dubai. The developer has also just completed a two-week deep disinfection at its 647 residential buildings in the emirate while continuing a strict sanitation regime at all its buildings and malls.
A Nakheel spokesman said: “We are pleased to help support the medical teams who are among the frontline staff working tirelessly to treat people in need and protect Dubai’s citizens, residents and communities. We thank these heroes for their unwavering efforts to mitigate this unprecedented situation.”
Additionally, Nakheel had also announced a $62 million economic package to ease the financial burden facing retailers and small businesses in the wake of the pandemic. It includes rent relief for Nakheel’s malls tenants and rental holidays for small businesses at its master communities. Administration charges across various services are also waived for three months, the statement added.
