Bahrain announces new social housing projects

Bahrain has announced that it plans to build a total of 1705 residential units, including 1402 flats, within the Salman City social housing project. The decision comes as part of the ministry’s plan to implement His Majesty King Hamad’s order for the construction of 40,000 housing units in Bahrain under the Government Action Plan, reported state-owned BNA.

HE Eng. Bassim bin Yaqoob Al Hamar, Minister of Housing in Bahrain, during an inspection visit to Salman City said that tender works are already completed and preparations are under way to start construction work.

He pointed out that the ministry is currently reviewing implementation of the procedural schemes for general plans approved for the new cities.

“New Bahrain Cities projects are being given great importance by the government, be it in terms of building the units or providing public services and infrastructure,” HE Al Hamar added.

The minister also underlined the housing commitments included in the Government Action Plan, and pointed out that HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister has been continuously following up on the progress at Salman City.
